Claire Foy Source aka Claire-Foy.org

Yay! It’s online! Anna and I’ve been quite busy in recent weeks and are really proud of our little baby. Claire really caught my attention in Little Dorrit and I reading interviews with her only made me more appreciative of the talented British actress. Not sure why I resisted a website for her last November but I’m sure it had something to do with my vow not to have a new website when I was neglecting the ones I already had. Never mind that, when Anna suggested we opened one I remembered all the reasons why I adored Claire and also I was excited about the idea of working together with Anna for the first time!

Mariana created the lovely header and I adapted my recent Marion WP theme.

So far, I’ve never really been lucky when it came to being part of a team on a website. Well, AnnaPaquinFan was really good, but I really only came onboard late and only to help out Angie. And it seems it only lasted a second. But apart from that… First of all, I’ve always liked to work alone on my precious websites about Sophia and Marion (also Scarlett, back when I still had it). And then there were a few occasions when one or both of us lost interest etc, so things just went their natural course. Really, I’ve no hard feelings at all about those instances. It just wasn’t meant to happen & I myself am partly responsible. But then there were times when everything I heard about someone’s commitment to a project sounded so fabulous and honest and serious, I stopped whatever I was doing and made it all happen. After everything was set up (or a very short while later) there was complete silence on the other end. Matthew and Emily were the sites in question. Anyway, not sure why I’m talking about all that now, but I’m sure I’ll have a great time on Claire Foy Source with Anna!

Not sure if I’ll be keeping my Fragment of Light site, but I’d really love to use it for all those screencaps etc I intended it for when I opened it. If only I had some more time & motivation to updated it! Let’s hope that’ll soon come!

Other than that I’ve read the first Sookie Stackhouse novel and kind of liked it. I mean it’s nothing deep but it’s good fun. I don’t see however, how fans of the book would condemn True Blood for its kinky scenes. Sure, the book only has those that involve Sookie, but she’s intended to be the innocent character, at the beginning at least. So what exactly did you guys think was going on in other people’s lives??!! Nothing?! Some people never cease to amaze me. The scenes might not be to their liking but to say they have nothing to do with the book is such a self-deceiving lie. Whatever makes them happy I guess.

As for True Blood, I’ve only seen the first episode of the new season yet. I’m not as enthusiastic about it as others are, but then I’ve always kind of felt ambiguous about the show. Also, I would never have said I’m into vamire stories. Go figure why I enjoyed Moonlight and why I keep watching True Blood. Well, there’s something about it that intrigues me. Not least Anna’s involvement. Though I have to say she looks too thin this season, also something about the shade of her hair is slightly off. It all gives her a “hard” look, and she looks kind of old. Well, I seem to be picky, what do you want?! I’m still in love with Erik played by Alexander Skarsgard (don’t care about the spelling right now) and if nothing else he’ll keep me watching lol

About actresses being too thin… Scarlett Johansson has come under quite some scrutiny lately. My opinion on the matter. Had she not lost some weight for the role, she’d be equally critizised, at least when the film comes out. Besides, she’s never really been curvy. Well, she’s got cleavage yes, but that’s just genes. No one who just happens to have large breasts but is otherwise very slim deserves to be commended for being “healthy” and “non-Hollywood” when others are more flat-chested but really more naturally curvy. Scarlett’s always had great legs and slim arms, people just never noticed because she always wore those tight and revealing dresses. It seemed to me she couldn’t press her cleavage enough, couldn’t make people notice it enough. It always looked as if everything would pop out any second. Now, apart from the weight loss the more significant change is her style of dress. The outfits aren’t as lowcut, as tight, as revealing. On pictures, black fabric makes it very hard to figure out what someone looks like in reality. So when people show me a pic of her dressed in some white skin-hugging fabric and a low-cut bodice next to one of her dressed in some black almost old-fashioned dress to “prove” that she lost more than she said I can just shake my head. Get over it people, she’s always been slimmer than most people I know in real life!

Kate is unstoppable

At least I think so. How can she not win an Oscar now? She did the almost impossible (though Scarlett did the same in 2004) and won against herself at tonight’s BAFTAs!!!!! I was so happy for her! And of course her parents are the best :)

I have seen The Reader now and I honestly can’t decide which performance I prefer so tonight I only knew I wanted Kate to win, but it didn’t matter to me for which one.

Marion was there too, looking really fabulous and sexy. I was almost sure she wouldn’t show so I wasn’t ready to record her presenting Best Actor… Also so far not too many pictures of her :(

Oscar Nominations

Nominations for the upcoming 81st Academy Awards are out! First feeling: I’m totally happy for Kate’s nomination as Best Actress in The Reader (makes definitely up for not receiving one in Revolutionary Road) but sad that Leonardo didn’t get nominated and also that Revolutionary Road is quite absent from the main categories. I thought that was a perfect (though depressing) film…

Leading Actor: I feel embarassed that I don’t know who Richard Jenkins is.
Supporting Actor: Heath should win this. Yay for Michael Shannon’s nomination.
Leading Actress: Sad that Sally Hawkins didn’t make it, but it’s been one of the better years for women’s roles. But Kate’s in and that’s all I wanted!
Supporting Actress: Lovely Amy Adams!
Make Up: Wondering why The Reader is absent?!
Original Screenplay: Yay, there’s Happy-Go-Lucky
Slumdog Millionaire Yay! 10 nominations. I’m all for SM to win! Even though I think the fact that is doing so well makes people try & belittle it. But I don’t care, I think this is one of the rare cases when everything comes together: great cinematography, editing, soundtrack, acting as well as a moving story as well as some serious topics. I hated the review in a local newspaper recently where they put the film’s success on depicting the American Dream, and that sometimes films get awarded because of a feeling they convey no matter if they’re good or bad. And that review was next to one for Changeling (which I haven’t seen and I’m not saying it’s bad, mind you) where they couldn’t lay enough praise on the film and say it was most deserving of an oscar.
Benjamin Button: 13 nominations for arguably the most beautiful and epic movie of the year. However, at times I’m afraid I looked on my watch because I couldn’t get as involved with the characters as I should have.

All in all, exciting Oscar nominations!

Anna’s dress

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 | Celebrity | No Comments

This deserves its own post. I take it back, there is something special about Anna’s dress at the Golden Globes. Just seen HQs that show her in a different light and I suddenly I saw all those beautiful details on the dress. And they’re kind of assymetrical, which I love. Just a shame about the almost black colour (it looked black during the telecast, but again, it wasn’t actually pure black) which made all of this impossible to see.

Golden Globes

Not sure if I can keep up watching through the night….

Anna Paquin won!! Yay! Nothing special about her dress, but she looked lovely. She also was as articulate and charming as always. I didn’t dare to hope for her to win. It seemed unlikely, but I’m so happy that one of my favourites won!

Ricky Gervais is too much :) LOL Loved his Kate Winslet/Extras joke! And Kate & Leo sitting next to each other. Awww.

Jonas Brothers???! What is it about them? Wall-E - no surprise there.

Will it be Sally Hawkin’s turn??
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too amazing, co-nominee Meryl Streep congratulating her. Sally’s quite breathless & emotional, bless her!

Just realized that because I started a bit late I missed Kate Winslet’s win as Best Supporting Actress for The Reader - even if it’s a weird category placement this is too good. Just a shame I still haven’t seen it.

Drew’s hair looks somewhat… distracting? Love the colour of her dress though. Tom Hanks is fantastic as always. Demi giving advice to Rumer: hmmmm

Heath Ledger RIP I’m getting goosebumps

Colin Farrell sexy as always. Love his accent too

LOVE Laura Linney’s dress. Also she’s a really good actress and deserves to win. Not that I’ve seen any of the performances in this category…

Pro7 is airing The Dark Knight trailer for the second time during commercials since Heath’s win…

Drooling over Gerard Butler….

Best Screenplay: I want Slumdog Millionaire to win!! YESS!!! Another one of my favs wins :) Loved Simon Beaufoy’s speech. Simple and endearing

There’s always something off about Renée Zellweger. Loved Kate’s reaction to the clip of The Reader.

Is John Adams good? Might have to check this out sometime… Paul Giamatti, another extra-talented actor winning for this. I think I forgot to mention Tom Wilkinson before.

For soundtrack score I’d love Benjamin Button or Slumdog Millionaire to win. And yes, my favourite of the two, Slumdog Millionaire does!!!! If you’re reading the speech from a pre-written note, then this is the way to do it, I guess. And loved the final part, “thanks to the billion people from India”

Everyone seems to love Tina Fey! Love her internet comments, so true!

Kind of tuned out during the whole Steven Spielberg award. I guess it would have been nice to see the faces in the audience.

Not sure if I have a favourite nominee for Best Director. Either Slumdog Millionaire or Revolutionary Road. And it’s Danny Boyle for SM! Congratulations! Very well deserved. This is just a perfect brilliant film jewel. Loving his acceptance speech. Just the right mixture of everything.

Awww, Sandra looks absolutely gorgeous - but that means Marion Cotillard as last year’s winner in the female counter-category didn’t make it to present. I would like James Franco to win. But I can definitely live with Colin Farrell. I have to check out In Bruges soon. His speech is quite something, I really like it. Although now I should add, it’s rather long. Still funny and moving throughout though

Another film I haven’t seen yet: Vicky Christina Barcelona. Congrats!

Drool drool Shah Rukh Khan (not sure about the spelling). And Freida is very pretty!

Ok, I really really want Kate Winslet to win this as well! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She’s too adorable, she’s so emotional, and so am I actually. Angelina’s staring but smiling as well. Just goes to show everyone is charmed by Kate. Leo blowing a kiss

I want Leo to win this! He was so fantastic in RR. But it wasn’t meant to be. Mickey Rourke. There’s something about him I don’t really like. But then I haven’t seen The Wrestler. Him stopping by Kate & Leo made it ok though.

And Slumdog Millionaire for Best Picture Drama. Turns out this was the evening’s winner. And I couldn’t think of a more deserving winner! Just would have seen one more win for Revolutionary Road, although the storyline is depressing, overall it’s a very well made film and fantastic acting. Well, Kate won and that’s worth sooo much!
