My sites
Friday, December 22nd, 2006 | Sites | No Comments
Absolutely Sophia Myles: The site is still my baby and my absolute favourite site to maintain. Sophia Myles is enough inspiration to handle the responsibility of a webmaster. The site is all up to date - except for a few scans, but I have to wait till the actual magazines arrive in the far-off Switzerland. Well, it’s just the Holiday mail overload that’s delaying them. After the Holiday season I’m going to work on the affiliate section. I’m always shamelessly neclecting it.
Stellar Matthew Macfadyen: Originally strictly dedicated to his performances I have let myself be distracted by the rather obsessive and possessive MM fans out there. I started feeling my site did not have any value. I’m back now to my original motivation and I don’t care about everything else. I’m currently screencapping his performances to get the gallery up to date and I hope to get some inspiration over the coming days to write up my feelings and thoughts about his projects. I’m doing this site for myself…. This egoistic standpoint is the only way I can continue this site.
Presenting Marion Cotillard Everything’s well. I’m still building it up….. Maybe I can spare a few hours from my MM capping to get the Marion screencaps archive up to date. And I need to write some texts about her projects.
It seems I’m all busy but lately there have been a lot of ideas floating around. Ideas for new projects. But I don’t have the time and will definitely not be doing them all. Those that will get some attention from myself (one way or the other) will however be strictly constrained to See the Sun. Emily Mortimer, Anna Paquin, Talulah Riley, Matthew Rhys…… A new year, new ways…
Work

I was just told that I’d be getting a pay-rise coming next year. Because of my ‘good’ work. While I like to think of myself as serious, hard-working, reliable and trustworthy I have come to realize that over the past few months there has been a decline. Even as I’m typing this I’m at work - yet online doing private matters. So to make me deserving of the additional money I’m going to change…..
Heaven

I just finished watching ‘Heaven’ by Tom Tykwer starring the excellent Cate Blanchett and Giovanni Ribisi. I’m not going to try to put my feelings about this film into words - because I wouldn’t succeed at it.
I have only seen 3 film by Tom ‘The princess and the warrior’, ‘Heaven’ and ‘True’ (part of Paris, je t’aime). While there’s almost no dialogue in the Princess…, more dialogue in Heaven they are both pulsating and have a bursting energy laying beyond the film. True obviously has the energy all on the surface but the dreamy and sensible parts are there as well. Whereas they’re more obvious in the 2 flms they’re more hidden in True.
Although I like realism in films, I greatly admire Tom’s very artistic balance between True-ness, Realism and Surrealism. Although there are many themes being expressed through images it always feels true and real.
And ‘Heaven’ has to have the most beautiful love scene ever - and one does not even get to see any naked bodies….
Doctor Who
Thursday, December 14th, 2006 | Film | No Comments
Last week, over the course of 4 evenings, I watched the entire Season 2 of the British television series ‘Doctor Who’. David Tennant’s performance is absolutely great. His doctor drew me right in, his passion, energy, love of life, moral strength, humour, etc. He’ll be the reason to watch Season 3. And Billie Piper makes you feel like you’re travelling with the doctor. Her Rose is attractive - certainly - and yet a kind of regular person, so rather than envy her you feel like becoming best friends with her.
She’s the reason I bought the Season 1 DVDs. Now, the past 3 evenings I’ve again been absorbed by travelling in time and space. Christopher Eccleston sure had his charms and talents as the Doctor and I’ve come to like him. However, when at the end David Tennant’s 10th doctor came up on the screen I knew who my favourite doctor is!
The Other Boleyn Girl

Ever since I’ve heard about this book being made into a film (first there were the rumours about Keira getting a part, then it was announced that Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson got the main roles) I was thinking about reading it. When I saw it at the local library I started reading it. I loved it. I just can’t come to terms with what the book presents as facts but are widely looked upon as untrue according to encyclopedias. But that’s the way it is with fiction I suppose. I truly hope that the film will be able to capture the books atmosphere and spirit. The first still looks promising, the actresses look the part. To cast 2 actresses who are not only very talented but also bring a special glow & charisma to the screen was a great choice. I think the personality of the characters already transpire from these pictures. I can’t wait to see this film!!
