Depressed

Just finished watching part 3 of Tess of the d’Urbervilles. Love everything about it - except that it’s so tragic. Here I am, past midnight, sitting at my desk and crying my eyes out when in fact I’ve been feeling so well in recent weeks. I’ll get over it, sure, but it just blows. There are so many what if’s in that story - reminds me of what if’s in real life…
Seen all of Lost in Austen now. Final part must be my favourite out of the 4. I think the characters are the most real in this one. It did all feel a bit rushed, though.
True Blood - it seriously is addictive. But for heaven’s sake the stuff they put in there. It feels just like they’re doing it for the sake of it, you know, for being on cable and stuff.
Been adapting 2 layouts for Wordpress. Should really have finished the one first instead of trying to do both at the same time. Anyway, I’ve been tearing my hair out over browser incompatibilities. Especially IE of course. Some 25% of visitors still do use IE6 so I think I have to make an effort to at least get the layouts to display approximately the way they should. At home my PC recently upgraded to IE7 however I can’t seem to open it without making the computer to stop working. So I need to test the layouts for IE6 at my workplace. PNG, float, margin and padding - seriously I can’t stand it anymore. Serves me right though for converting a sliced table layout to a div & CSS layout. At least I think I got the basics working and I will not even attempt to validate the layouts. I don’t care! Oh and the best part? 2 row display in Affiliationally appears to have a clear function that makes my floated main column break.
Been listening to Brian Mcfadden a lot lately, mostly while driving. I seriously love his style - both in music and in general. Not to mention he’s always been my favourite Westlife member.
I seem to lose all my earrings - but always just one out of a pair. A while back I lost one of the earstickers my parents gave me when I first got my ears pierced - I was about 3 years old at the time. They really had a sentimental value. Then I lost one of the golden earrings my parents gave me when I finished school. Sentimental and material value this time. And I’ve not been able to find any similar ones since. Now, I’ve lost one of the earstickers my parents gave me when I got my ears pierced for the second time when I was 11. I had let the holes in the earlobes grow back again. Seriously, I have a ton of worthless fashion jewellery and I’ve never once lost one of them. But I’ve lost one piece of every set my parents gave me???!! What is wrong with me!!
For now I’m faking it …

… ‘Til I’m pseudo-making it
Love the way these lines express a truth. Made some regress when it comes to tackling houswork and going to bed in time. But all in all, I really really feel good. Not in a hyper way though. Just in a calm, assured kind of way which is really nice.
Lost in Austen - Part 3: much better than last week, or did I only get used to its style? I’ve tried to think of a historical film made in an untraditional way (as in: not-the-BBC-style) that I enjoyed. Couldn’t really think of one. Or do The Abduction Club, Marie Antoinette and Plunket & Macleane count? Anyway, I’m still convinced the reason for my rather dislike of LiA lies with its execution and not the idea in general.
True Blood: Not sure about the whole concept of the show, the sex and the violence. But Anna Paquin is mesmerizing and I’m loving the chemistry between Sookie and Bill. I’m not yet giving up watching this.
Moonlight: What I’ve seen coming for a few months has finally started happening in its most prominent fan community. However I’m deeply shocked by the large amount of money that seems to be involved ($11,000 in one case). As well as how long (come on, over a month!!) this has not been dealt with (or so it seems). I certainly stopped breathing there for a few seconds. I honestly didn’t expect this to be as huge. Even if there’s no purposeful wrongdoing involved, THIS IS ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS!! I can’t understand anyone who’s making light of the issue and views civil questions for answers as “bickering”. Being open & trustworthy certainly are the basics of running a website (and especially of collecting money). I sure don’t know any of the details personally but I wouldn’t support a certain person if I had to. There have been various unrelated incidents that I heard about, all of them directly from the person(s) directly involved, and it can’t be a coincidence. A reason more to be really careful about who you trust online, and even more so when it comes to matters involving money. Just as some of the leading online TV media have picked up on information stemming from that website (including at least one fabricated quote) I can’t say I wouldn’t be unhappy about them picking up on this as well.
I seem to have too many fansites. I can’t do all that I want for all of them but I can’t think of a site that I wouldn’t regret giving up at this time. Also decided to shorten my online name.
Subtlety

I watched episode 2 of Lost In Austen too now. And while I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed Part 1 I can’t say the same of this new episode. Well, there was one or the other tiny occasion in the first episode where I thought that something was uncalled for (e.g. the kiss) but now, OMG I couldn’t stop cringing. The whole script is lacking in subtlety - and not just a little. Still not sure about the depiction of neither Bingley nor Darcy. Wickham was very good. And Collins! Ghastly indeed. Really not sure they should have made him that bad. Oh, and Jane’s new fate! I really don’t like it. This has become such a mess I can only hope it gets back to being something fun to watch. I don’ expect accuracy or anything - after all it’s not an adaptation - but I do expect something different. Anyway, will continue to watch…
Last week I had also seen the double episode of Bones. It was very good to see the characters back on screen, really. Enjoyed it throughout - but I must say this: what was it with the England jokes? They were so obvious (Mini, driving on the left side) and un-original. And wouldn’t a FBI officer, who’s also a former top sniper and whatnot be going about the whole UK driving experience in a different way? Will probably tomorrow watch episode 3. Can’t wait and luckily they’re back in the US.
Earlier tonight I’ve been upgrading Wordpress on all of my sites, as well as Coppermine. That is I only did the lazy version for the latter: just uploaded the small security patch. Hopefully, it’ll be a while till all of this becomes necessary again.
Lost in Austen

Thanks to a YouTube user I’ve been able to watch part 1 of Lost in Austen. I really liked it, the idea is certainly fabulous and it’s not to be taken too seriously. Can’t wait for the remaining 3 episodes.
Over the weekend I’ve been in bed with a fever and a terrible headache. Well, after the headache kind of went away I started reading. Shirley by Charlotte Brontë it was, and I’m glad I have finally read a book from her other than Jane Eyre. It’s a different kind of story but I enjoyed it very much. And was kind of sad when I finished it. I really like the description and development of Caroline Helstone and Robert Moore. I whish they’d make a movie out of this rather than chewing out remakes of more familiar novels (such as those by Jane Austen) however much I love those.
