Snow!!!

Thursday, October 30th, 2008 | Personal | 2 Comments

It snowed!!! This is really early and I only hope it won’t be like last year when it snowed quite early as well but in the end we only got a small amount of snow during the actual winter. Here a few pics I took outside my room and living room. Depending on the weather I will maybe go out and walk to the top of the village to take more pics seeing as I got the afternoon off.

We were just pals but you’ve turned us into best friends

Only 4 more episodes of True Blood. I really like Stephen Moyer as Bill and I love Bill and Sookie. But, I must confess whenever Eric (Aleksander Skarsgard) comes on I’m lost, he’s got the most charisma of all the actors on the show (sorry, Anna, you are mesmerizing).

Spent yesterday afternoon with a friend and went through a ton of emotions - angry, curious, forgiving, open, short-tempered…. Somehow she doesn’t deserve my feelings but I can’t help it. She has a baby now (hope I have’t given him my cold or whatever it is) and lives in a new place. Actually has been living there for as long as I have been living in my new place. Watching her and seeing her apartment I realized that no matter what circumstances change in your life - whether you’re single, married, a parent or whatever - some things just stay the same. The pretention of rustical yet stylish interior design and pictures on the wall combined with the ton of paper, magazines, clothes lying around just proved that.

And I couldn’t help remember the poem (or something like it) I wrote almost 4 years ago after spending a whole afternoon with her. Read it here. Some things really never change, not even my ambigous feelings towards her.

Have you ever stared into the rain

Have updated the 100 books and 100 films pages once again. Couldn’t believe that I hadn’t updated the books list since January. I tried to remember all the books I had read in the meantime but of course that was a bit difficult.

Loved watching Michael Strogoff and I didn’t even mind that it was made back in 1975. Although Nadja’s hairdo certainly needed getting used to. But the guy who played Michael… Need I say he looked handsome?! Anyway, I was happy to see this miniseries. Years ago, when I read the novel by Jules Verne I was so fascinated with this story and Nadja was for years my top favourite name ;) I think I’ll try to find the novel in the library for a re-read.

The first episode of Little Dorrit was good. But of course it was just the opening episode, the one that set the ground and opened many many new questions and storylines. Matthew Macfadyen was really great and I think Clare Foy is making a really spectacular debut here. Not sure yet about the Meagles family and the Harriet storyline. Can’t wait for the next episode. [edit:] Check out my new site Fragment of Light, featuring lots of content and screencaptures about Little Dorrit.

Funny: today’s newspaper has an article about a new Edith Piaf CD - and the main picture is from La Vie en Rose and depicts actually Marion Cotillard. But no mention of this, the subtitle says the picture is Edith Piaf. Speaking of Marion, she’s the new face of the Lady Dior bag and the campaign will be shot by Peter Lindbergh. I’m so excited for the pictures. He’s a friend of Marion and the 2 photoshoots he did of her this year have been nothing short of breathtaking!

I feel a cold / flu coming on. But I am determined not to call in sick!

Have you ever stared into the rain
Thought the clouds would never disappear
Have you ever screamed out into the dark
Thinking no one else could hear

I was leaving footprints tainted by my past
On this winding road to you

I’d lost my faith in love
Tonight I believe again
My Heart was a broken place
Now I feel whole again
You bring my honesty
And that’s worth believing in
and I believe
I believe again

Have you ever spun out of control
Like you never saw the road ahead
Have you ever just kept looking back
Ever closer to the edge

I was praying for the light I see in your eyes
I had all but given up

I believe the impossible is possible to overcome
I believe in miracles
Born from love in everyone

Winter Time

We’re back to the “correct” time now. But I hate that it’s dark at 6pm already now. I also hate that we’ll have to wait about a month for new episodes of Bones. Oh, and Little Dorrit started yesterday. I can’t wait to download it tonight! 14 episodes with Matthew Macfadyen! Seeing him onscreen always takes my breath away. He’s got such a presence and I just love his voice. Anybody got the stills for the BBC series? I’d love to have them hehe I have a feeling I will love Little Dorrit even more than Bleak House. Shared Resources

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 | Sites, Songs, TV | 2 Comments

I really wanted to dedicate one full post to the wonderfully exquisite book Villette - but for days I haven’t been able to come up with the words to express how much I love this book. Maybe at a later time. Thanks Kirsty for giving it such praise! I’m sure I read it earlier than I would have without it.

So, this post will be a bit about what’s become the most dreaded expression when it comes to website hosting for me. It’s “shared resources”, and that one - or more specifically one’s website - is using too much of them…. Anyway, that’s happened to me and since I can’t afford to spend more time & money on maintaining some sort of server I moved the media parts of the Marion on Sophia sites to Fan-Sites.org. Also installed WP Super Cache on all of my WP installations. I just hope everything will go smoothly now… Keeping my fingers crossed. Oh, and the new layouts are up, am totally in love with both of them. If anyone knows what’s wrong with the Marion coding on the pages and the media intro page (when viewed in IE6) - any help would greatly be appreciated as I’m completely at a loss….

Oh, and thanks to Sarika I’ve re-discovered a singer who my friend owns a CD of - Elisa.
