Ice Blue

Been meaning to write about this yesterday but then I felt not motivated at all… I went for a traditional ‘Sunday walk’ shortly after lunch, something I started to hate when I hit puberty. It’s something I’ve only done maybe a handful of times since living alone - and it was the first time at my ‘new’ place. I enjoyed it a lot though and I will definitely have to make time for this more often. I’m always out & about during the week (and even on weekends) that I rarely muster up the motivation to walk just for the pleasure of it on my time off.
It snowed a number of times during the weekend and then around lunch yesterday we had the most pleasant sunshine. I dressed warmly, put on a cap (I looked not very fashionable, I guess) and walked to the top of my village. Up there the view was great, though I missed seeing the Alpes behind the hills (they were all wrapped in clouds), and I loved the combination of clear blue sky with single clouds. However, the wind up there was ice cold - which gives the word ice blue a whole new meaning I guess! Only half an hour after I returned home the sky was almost fully overcast again so I was glad I hadn’t postponed my walk - it was definitely the achievement of the weekend and I felt really proud of myself.
Later on I listened to the Spanish version of Laura Pausini’s new CD - it’s absolutely fantastic - and watched the first episode of The Devil’s Whore. This is actually really good! I loved the windswept parts and the overall look, John Simm and Andrea Riseborough are great actors and I liked the story development so far a lot. Only thing I don’t like so much is that it’s about war… True Blood’s last episode aired yesterday I guess - so after I’ve seen that there’s one less series I will have to keep up with, which I’m glad of because I don’t really have the time to download so many different series. But then it also makes me sad. I only hope they ended the season well. Oh, and Pushing Daisies got cancelled. How sad is that?! Even if they have plans to release comic books and even a movie (I’ll believe it when I see it…) I’ll definitely hate the cliffhanger the series supposedly will end with.
And all I can say is you blow me away

Just came home from the A Fine Frenzy concert. What can I say? I really needn’t have worried about being disappointed. It was absolutely fantastic and Alison’s a real powerwoman! I was honestly surprised by her voice and energy! I don’t think the CD reveals how strong her voice really is - or at least I didn’t realize… She is surreally beautiful and has the cutest smile/giggle in between songs. It was also very nice seeing so many people who really love her music. Although her song(s) are being played quite a lot on the radio many still don’t seem to know who she is. But there really are many fans here, and it was fantastic to sing the chorus of Almost Lover together (we got to sing along as well, Mel)
Unfortunately none of my photos turned out nice but I have at least a decent video recording of Ashes and Whine which is my favourite song on the CD. Speaking of which, I will continue to listen to it over and over again but I think I like the live versions even more! Hearing the wonderful music being played live by her and her band and especially watching Alison “act” her songs is something not to be missed! I especially enjoyed Rangers. She played 2 new songs from her forthcoming 2009 album: From Whence it Came (which I quite liked) and I’ve Got You (not sure if that’s the title but this song is simply fantastic and I LOVED seeing Alison dance). I also liked her cover songs I Will Follow You Into the Dark and Seven Nation Army.
Other songs from the album she played: Come on, Come out, The Minnow & the Trout, You Picked Me, Think of You (I almost cried during this), Last of Days, Near to You and Borrowed Time. She also played The Well which was apparently the first thing they ever published. I had never heard it before but I really enjoyed it, esp. the lyrics. [edit:] the CD allows one to unlock access to additional material on the official website, and the song’s there. Can’t believe in all this time I hadn’t used my CD for this :shakes head:[/edit] Not sure if I’ve got this songlist correct, time flew by so quickly and already I start forgetting certain moments I would like to vividly remember for a long time. I definitely could have listened to them a lot longer.
Actually I can’t think of anything I didn’t like. Except maybe that I didn’t exactly had a good view because a really tall couple was in front of me… and that a person suddenly collapsed right behind me. She/He just fell to the floor like a sack of potatoes and was unconscious. (S)he had to be carried away. I wonder how (s)he is feeling now?
I hadn’t heard of Jamie Scott and the Town before. But I was enjoying their performance too. Jamie is such a good looking musician - and very talented as well of course - and I just loved his British English
I think I’ll go & buy the CD. Actually, Jamie really is good looking… We were standing around afterwards, waiting because I wanted to get my A Fine Frenzy CD signed, and he was standing nearby most of the time… But what should I have said to him, I don’t even know his music… When Alison came I was second in line and she was really lovely and gracious and seemed genuinely happy to sign it. I hope she’ll come to Bern again soon!
I seem to be making a big fuzz about it all but it’s actually the first time I’ve been to a “proper” concert! They are always so friggin’ expensive (what isn’t in Switzerland) and most of the times I only find out about concerts of artists I like when it’s too late, or they play in another city, or on a day I can’t go… So I was so happy that an artist I truly love listening to came to my town, on a day I was free to go and that the tickets were quite affordable.
I understand you’ve been dreaming about me

Loved this week’s episode of Heroes. I’ve only ever seen every episode once and especially with Season 1 it’s kind of hard to remember all the storylines, esp. what the deal was with Nathan as DA and Linderman. So I like that said episode went back and showed us additional footage of familiar scenes. I feel like I understand the Heroes universe a whole lot better after watching it.
This week’s episode of Bones made me cry. But I really loved the ep. The character of Bones hasn’t been as endearing as in previous seasons and I’ve so been missing the tender moments between Bones and Booth at the end of the episodes. But this episode brought it all back. Made Booth and Bones more real again and gave them more room for character development in addition to simply solving a murder. In the absence of that, up till now, I’ve mainly been rooting for Hodgins this year. I’m glad the show’s got some of the vibe back that made me fall in love with it and I only hope they’ll be able to keep it up!

Since I didn’t get to use it for my new site
Mel, I’m going to see A Fine Frenzy live too!!! A week from today, on the 20th, she’s actually coming to my hometown. How cool is that!! Not Zurich or Basel, but Bern! I (luckily) still was able to get tickets and just hope my expectations won’t be too high :shrugs: I hope being able to go to her concert will make up for the fact that I didn’t make it to any of Amy Macdonald’s gigs this summer
My nephew really is the cutest baby  Babies are always often cute, but I guess when it’s a really good friends’ (which my sister is) baby just that fact makes it even cuter!
Baby Boy

I’m an auntie!!!! A few hours ago (just about 9 to be exact) my sister gave birth to a healthy baby boy! Can’t wait to go & visit them at the hospital after the lunch break!!
And, Fragment of Light is open! I had wanted to make it a subdomain but it just didn’t work out. Maybe WP was messing with it, I don’t know. Enjoy!
