Becoming Jane

So, I’ve finally seen Becoming Jane. What can I say? I think it’s good I’ve had to wait such a long time since I first was impatient to see it. I was so ready to fall in love with this film I would have only been disappointed, I guess. Now, my anticipation was on an average level and I think I appreciated the film more because of that. All in all it was a lovely film. Many of the good ingredients there, Anne as adorable as ever, James obviously absolutely great and Anna Maxwell Martin once again surprising me with her charm and talent. But somehow lovely is all the film is - I have so not fallen in love with it. But oh well, I’m happy nontheless. In time I will be sure to re-watch every other few months, I’m sure, it is a charming film after all.
Surprisingly, none of the scenes in the 2nd half really moved me (the ones that are without a doubt supposed to be the main elements of the drama). It was only the very last scene that stirred something in me. Even though in context with the whole film it certainly is forced (to have some kind of happy end?) it is so well-done and so movingly bitter sweet I couldn’t help absolutely loving it

You know, I was sort of tied about seeing Becoming Jane. Now after reading your review, I don’t think I’ll bother to see it. Even if it does mean skipping out on James.
I liked BJ… I love James McAvoy and Anne Hathaway, though. To me it was like Pride & Prejudice, but with an unhappy ending.
Well, I certainly did not hate the film. It’s just I loved P&P 05 sooo much my expectations for BJ were too high. Had I not compared it in my mind to P&P or expected it to have the same special thing about it I would have loved it. Period. But as it is - and my month-long wait to actually see it - I was left somewhat disappointed. And as I said I will be re-watching…. Anyway, I’m giving this far too much thought…..

ive seen the movie several times, if you didnt like it than you have no sense of romance. i loved the movie and cant wait until the dvdvis released herenin the us
