Heaven
Tuesday, December 19th, 2006 | Film
I just finished watching ‘Heaven’ by Tom Tykwer starring the excellent Cate Blanchett and Giovanni Ribisi. I’m not going to try to put my feelings about this film into words - because I wouldn’t succeed at it.
I have only seen 3 film by Tom ‘The princess and the warrior’, ‘Heaven’ and ‘True’ (part of Paris, je t’aime). While there’s almost no dialogue in the Princess…, more dialogue in Heaven they are both pulsating and have a bursting energy laying beyond the film. True obviously has the energy all on the surface but the dreamy and sensible parts are there as well. Whereas they’re more obvious in the 2 flms they’re more hidden in True.
Although I like realism in films, I greatly admire Tom’s very artistic balance between True-ness, Realism and Surrealism. Although there are many themes being expressed through images it always feels true and real.
And ‘Heaven’ has to have the most beautiful love scene ever - and one does not even get to see any naked bodies….
